Boko Haram terrorists kill 5 troopers, CJTF operative in Borno

5 troopers and a Civilian JTF have been killed in an ambush staged by suspected Islamic State Of West Africa Province alongside Maiduguri/Monguno street on Sunday in northeast Nigeria.

The ambush occurred round 4:00pm at Pilimari village of Nganzai council space of Borno State, whereas troops have been on patrol of Gajiram/Monguno axis.

There have been a number of assaults and kidnappings alongside Maiduguri/Monguno street that warranted the patrol across the axis within the final two years.

Confirming the incident on Monday in Maiduguri, the state capital, Civilian JTF chief. Bukar Auno, who was in a navy patrol convoy stated: “We have been travelling alongside the Monguno street close to Gajiram, and the insurgents got here out from the bush and began firing at us.

“We needed to take cowl, with the lack of our members and 5 troopers.”

He stated that the trade of fireplace lasted for about an hour, earlier than the terrorists hijacked three patrol automobiles of the Civilian JTF.

He additional disclosed that: “Twelve of our members have been wounded, together with 12 troopers; whereas offering cowl for our troopers on the scene of the terrorists’ assault.”

He stated the injured troopers had been evacuated to a navy hospital for therapy at Brigadier Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri.
