3 things you need to do immediately you install wordpress on your domain

There are some basic things that you need to do immediately when installing WordPress on your domain, these basic things will go a long way and protect your website from brute force attack.

Change default password
Some website hosts may suggest a password for your WordPress website while WordPress is installed on your domain, this password is not always easy to remember and you need to change it for security reasons. Here are steps on how to change your default WordPress password.

Log into your WordPress admin control panel with your username and password provided to you by your website host.
Scroll down USERS and click on it.
In this domain, you will see your username (the name you used to install WordPress on your domain), click on your username.
Scroll down and click the button that says Create password.
You will see a very long password automatically generated by WordPress for you to use. Just check them all and delete them. Enter a password of your choice that you can always remember and also make sure it is a strong password.
Click the “Update Profile” button.
Change permalinks
The default static WordPress links are similar to http://yourwebsitename.com/index.php and also if you click on the default WordPress post which is “hello world!” Your link in your browser’s URL bar will look like http://yourwebsitename.com/index.php/year/month/day/hello-world/, this is very unprofessional and does not convert to website links professionals for posts or pages that look like this, We need to name it http://yourwebsitename.com/hello-world/. For it to look like this, it is necessary;

Sign in to your WordPress admin control panel.
Scroll down to Settings, then tap PERMALINKS.
You can see that in the “custom build” and there is a little box that appears after your website name, you see /index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/.

Highlight them all and delete them. Enter /% postname% / in the box.
Click the Save Changes button.
Install security plugins
Plugins allow you to add more features to your website. Do not confuse it with your WordPress website, it is safe if you keep all WordPress features and plugins up to date, you will not encounter any problems, but there are security plugins that help protect your website from hackers and hackers too. The names of the plugins are “All-in-One & Firewall” to protect your site from hackers and “Akismet” to protect your site from hackers. To install these plugins, you need:

Login to your WordPress admin control panel.
Scroll down to PLUGINS and click Add New.
On the left side of the page, there is a search box, search for “all-in-one security and firewall” and install and enable it.
I have written an article on how to configure a firewall plugin for your website. I recommend that you read this article and you should also follow the same step that I used to install everything in a security and firewall to install the Akismet plugin, looking for the name and then clicking Install and activate.
